Our team will guide you from choosing the technology through to full commissioning of the system.
Securing a property is a complex undertaking that may combine intruder alarms, fire protection, video cameras, access control and many other safety solutions. All of them serve the same purpose: to protect the owner’s property, privacy, life and health. The best moment to think about the functions, conveniences and user needs of a security system is at the initial design stage. The entire low-voltage circuit can then be planned properly, alongside the interior and exterior finishes. Once that work is done, it becomes straightforward to plan how the whole installation will be routed. If this is not done in advance, wireless security solutions remain an option, but such equipment costs more and is harder to service, because batteries need replacing, signal quality has to be checked and other maintenance is required.
In industrial and administrative buildings, fire systems are strictly governed by the rules for designing and installing fire detection and alarm systems. The first stage is always a fire safety design. It sets out how the building could be extinguished, whether it stands close to other buildings, what it is used for, what access roads exist and so on. It also specifies which type of fire alarm is required.
A private house does not need such a design, because the property is not handed over to the fire service. Even so, the fire detection system must meet all requirements, and having one is strongly recommended. Our team will help you choose the best and most sensible option, adapt the system to how you live, provide a warranty and install everything. A wired system connected to the house alarm panel is generally preferable: it costs less to run and needs servicing less often.
Video surveillance is an inseparable part of keeping a building or site properly secure.
A surveillance system consists of cameras mounted indoors or outdoors, a recording device and a hard drive. Working together, they let you watch the camera feed, control it and archive footage. The greatest benefit of surveillance cameras is the ability to see, analyse and identify the people who caused harm to your property. All footage is stored and can be viewed at any time, either on site or remotely from a computer or phone. When choosing a system, consider whether the equipment will be installed indoors or outdoors, as this determines whether you need outdoor or indoor cameras. It also matters whether the area is lit or whether night vision with infrared illumination will be needed. Systems are either IP-based or analogue. IP costs somewhat more, but offers clear advantages over analogue.
Access control systems make sure that only authorised people enter the premises. Identification is by card, fingerprint or code, and all authorisation is handled by a controller installed in a secure place out of reach of outsiders. The solution scales from a single door to a couple of hundred, can be standalone or centralised, and when integrated with a time and attendance system it simplifies timesheets and lets you track staff movement. We have designed and installed a good number of access systems – get in touch and we will help.
We design electrical and automation control panels, specify the systems, assemble and install them and, of course, maintain them and advise you along the way.
This is an early smoke detection system that warns considerably sooner than conventional point detectors. Its main advantages are very early fire detection, adjustable sensitivity and the ability to cover large or complex spaces.
